ESGD is now ESGD

As the ESGD, we have been taking stock. We are commemorating 25+ years of offering education and care rooted in the Divine Principle, and the values and ideals of True Parents. There have been significant challenges to navigate over the years but our dedication and heart have remained steadfast – and so has our support. At this juncture, we particularly want to appreciate the foundation of years of investment from many brothers and sisters. The fact that we are still here is a collective accomplishment.

However, we will continue to be a work in progress because there is more work to do and new circumstances to respond to. ESGD is now ESGD; we have chosen a different ending to our name to guide us through our next phase. We are shifting from a ‘Department’ to ‘Development’.

We are European Second Generation Development.

What’s in our name? A clarity of purpose, and an expression of our identity. We are rooted in Europe, but have fostered deep connections with those from other parts of the world. We were initiated by Second Generation Unificationists, but will continue to work together with those who find meaning and a shared purpose. We have shifted towards ‘Development’ because we want to honour the foundation that we have built, whilst also nurturing the desire to mature and adapt.

Development is not measured in numbers, but in the quality of engagement and depth of relationships. Brothers and Sisters. Husbands and Wives. Parents and Children. Friends and Family. We are ESGD.

We have updated our name to more accurately reflect our identity, and to better guide us towards our Core Vision and Mission of:

1. Principled Living
Offering Principled Education & Understanding.

2. Upholding Lineage
Supporting Blessed Families to Endure and Grow.

3. Loving Community
Cultivating a Spiritually Vibrant Unificationist Network.

4. Building a Legacy
Providing Direction & Leadership for our Present and Future.

Through our education and care, we are investing in the serious personal and collective pursuit of Unificationist Ideals. We want to affirm our identity as Blessed Children by encouraging a committed life with God, an authentic connection with True Parents and a living relationship with the Principle.

We are a maturing network of all ages, and as an independent initiative we rely on a deep sense of ownership from an increasing number of dedicated individuals, couples and families. We believe that consistency and continuity make a difference; they are the foundation for healthy teamwork in our present and future projects. Together, we want to carry on making a meaningful contribution in our global community of Blessed Children in different life stages, and different seasons of faith. And we are committed to being critically engaged with the culture and world we are all a part of, so that we can better take responsibility and find hope in an often challenging reality.

We want to further develop and maintain an environment which can be a spiritual home for many; open and free, but united on the essentials. We want to build a stronger legacy together for the sake of the next generations.
